The story follows , a 19-year-old weakling attending Motomichi High School, a private academy known as "Gedou Gakuen" (The Heretical Campus) for its brutal gangs and endemic violence. The plot is set in motion by two concurrent events. While Masao is away on an archeological expedition to a forbidden temple in the Himalayas, he stumbles upon a bloody, sacrificial ritual that successfully tears open the Gates of Hell. Mortally wounded in the chaos, Masao survives by becoming the mortal host of the demon king Esedess . Upon his return to Tokyo after a two-month absence, Masao finds his college campus in a state of violent anarchy. As rival gangs begin manifesting unholy powers and monstrous appetites, he must learn to control the demonic force within him to save his girlfriend Yuko—and possibly all of humanity—from total annihilation.
