Netcat is a double-edged sword. It is frequently used by ethical hackers to establish (persistent connections on a victim's Windows machine that connect back to the attacker for remote control). The GUI version makes these tasks easier to visualize.
Historically, some Netcat implementations have had vulnerabilities. This means an attacker could send specially crafted network data to crash the Netcat process and potentially execute malicious code on your machine.
